The Women For Prosperity was formed on July 1st, 1994 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization with the dedication for the betterment of the women.
Since its inception, the WFP has been an important vehicle for women to advance themselves from domestic works or small businesses to public services. Thanks to donors for their continuation supports, and to the WFP staff for their commitment, hard work, and skills, the first four year term commune election in 2002 for 1,621 Communes/Sangkats, 11,261 Commune Councilors were elected for the first time of these 8.5% were women. We hope with time we will catch the pace of the world and eventually we will have a female prime minister by achieving our second step, which is to fulfill a quota of 30% women in the public offices at every level for the next election. It is a tremendous challenge ahead of us. But, we commit to stand strong for our women and our children. Together, we will make the difference. With women in the leadership position in the public sector, most of the problems in the society will be solved.
Women are mothers and first teachers of every child. With supports and proper training, their patience, love, and care will break all barriers that halt all sort of development such domestic violence, discrimination against women and children will fade a way; the concubines or mistress practices, which lead to corruption will be decreased and eventually ended. With commitment and dedication, we, together will be able to build happy families, healthy societies, and a good NATION.
