The Women for Prosperity concentrates its resources in developing practical programs model for education and skills training that can be easily replicated nation wide. The WFP is dedicated to develop emerging women leaders and promoting gender equality and equity through training program and advocacy and building good working relationship with the government officials, policy makers, and the general public.
To fulfill its mission, the WFP has developed many programs, whose purposes are to prepare the women to bravely emerge themselves in the political arena and to respond to the immediate needs that bar them from effectively accomplish their duties. By 2004, the WFP has successfully provided training on “Women’s Legal Rights and Advocacy” to 1405 women and 870 men leaders at the local level (NGOs, provincial Department, District and Commune level. The curriculum includes the Cambodian Constitution, the CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women), the right to education, to health care, marry and family law, right to equal employment opportunity, and trafficking law.
The WFP also conducted the one-week leadership training courses to 600 professional women nation wide from the non governmental and governmental institutions. The project aimed to build women’s self-esteem. It covers the principles of leadership, gender, women and Management, and the working system in the Cambodian Government.
The WFP has maintained good working relationship with the governmental ministries, political parties, local and international NGOs, grass root organizations such as the Cambodian Women For Peace and Development, Amara Organization, and NGOs members of CEDAW.
The WFP is also a member of the CPWP (Committee to Promote Women in Politics) comprised of 8 local NGOs namely COMFREL, CDRI, CWPD, GAD/C, NICFEC, WMC, and SILIKA.
